"Health and Well-Being Transformation Takes More Than an Eating Plan or Fitness Challenge."
- Tanya Fasnacht Jolliffe, RDN, LD, CIMHP

HER Story

Tanya began her career as a registered and licensed dietitian working as a research dietitian in an NIH multi-center cooperative study on alcoholic hepatitis. From there, she became a specialist in end-stage organ disease. She provided medical nutrition therapy and behavior-centered education to those with diabetes-related medical complications and kidney and liver failure from various chronic conditions. Tanya established the transplant dietitian position at a Cincinnati, Ohio, teaching hospital as a kidney, liver, and pancreas transplant nutrition specialist. In that role, she also served as an integral member of two multi-disciplinary specialty patient care teams and serviced two outpatient clinics. Additionally, while serving on the liver transplant selection committee, Tanya helped provide training and education to dietetic and medical interns regarding medical nutrition therapy in solid organ transplantation.

Working as an online healthy eating expert and health coach at SparkPeople presented a new setting where Tanya could support and promote healthy lifestyle behavior change serving new moms, teens, and adults. Through her work on the company platforms, she helped thousands of members manage medical conditions and maintain their health using web-based tools, coaching programs, and lifestyle support on Babyfit.com, SparkTeens.com, and SparkPeople.com. In this role, Tanya worked closely with individuals and groups coping with disordered eating, diabetes, heart disease, and other diet-related health concerns, such as healthy living while driving over the road. She also contributed to developing various nutritional living programs, including The 8-Week Diabetes Weight Loss Challenge, which also brought publication recognition as an editor.

Tanya took what she learned from her prior experiences to the transportation wellness arena. She served as a CDL wellness coach and subject matter expert at Rolling Strong. She helped develop a cutting-edge approach to transportation wellness that resulted in company acquisition and national recognition as one of The Nation's Best and Brightest in Wellness in 2017. Over the years, she has assisted startups, small businesses, and nonprofit organizations in producing strategies and programs that brought about growth and change.

All these experiences revealed diet culture's breadth and impact on health outcomes. As Tanya reviewed her disordered eating past and the impact of diet culture on her personal life and health, she understood the benefits of a non-diet approach through the development of a culture of wellness to help people make lasting health transformations. She also saw how wellness programs weren't saving companies money or improving employee health, so she set about to change those outcomes.

In 2019, Tanya was prompted to venture out and bring non-diet nutrition therapy, wellness integration, health coaching, and strategic culture design to market to help people IGNITE the Change Within. She is committed to assisting people to walk away from diet culture by creating lifestyle well-being cultures that embrace attuned and intuitive eating principles to promote lasting health and well-being change. Her lifestyle as medicine integrative solutions guide companies as they invest in their people by identifying and addressing barriers preventing employee well-being. She has also published a mindfulness-based journaling program entitled "The Mindful Me Journey: A 40-Day Guided Journal Toward a Healthier Relationship With Food and Exercise," which was an Amazon #1 New Release in 2019 and has now reached international distribution.

Tanya is an active speaker reaching various audiences via summit, podcast, and conference appearances. She also actively volunteers for multiple organizations, including Living in Truth Ministries and Women in Trucking. In 2022, Tanya accepted a contract with Rolling Strong to help several key companies transform driver health and company wellness culture as an Account Management Coach Contractor.

Tanya was an accomplished and acclaimed athlete in both high school and college. She was inducted into the Greenville High School Athletic Hall of Fame in recognition of her three-sport high school success, which included four appearances at the OHSAA State Track and Field Meet and a high jump record held for over four decades. It was the icing on the cake when she was also recognized for success at the collegiate level and inducted into the Mount St. Joseph University Athletic Hall of Fame for volleyball.
